Your Child's Oral Health

Did you know that children smile about 400 times a day? Teaching your child proper oral care at a young age is extremely important, start by setting an example. Make it fun for your child with games and songs; make sure they brush twice a day with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste to remove plaque which causes tooth decay. Keep in mind that using sweet flavored toothpaste may encourage your child to swallow it. Only use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on a soft-bristled toothbrush, and brush the inside surface of each tooth first where most of the plaque forms and brush gently back and forth. Then clean the outer surfaces of each tooth and be sure to angle the brush along the outer gum line. Then brush the chewing surface of each tooth gently back and forth. Use the tip of the brush to clean behind each front tooth, top and bottom and brush the tongue. Make sure your child comes in for their regular checkups with Dr. Snow to detect any cavities that your child may have.
